We especially look forward to working with clients wishing to utilize advantages created by the Michigan Renaissance Zones.  The purpose of these zones is to increase business, residential and social growth, as well as prevent deterioration of declining communities.  To encourage business development in these areas, property, business, millage and utility taxes are often suspended; and a tax credit for the Michigan Business Tax is also available.  Businesses are still responsible for federal taxes such as social security and worker’s compensation; however, the absence of most state taxes offers a unique financial advantage.  Renaissance Zones are typically set up for a ten-to-fifteen-year time period to allow businesses to rejuvenate the community.
